National Careers Week is one of Australia’s largest career exploration events, encouraging people of all ages and backgrounds to think about where their skills can take them. This year, Read Write Now joined the atWork Australia Northam First Steps to Success Expo — a well-attended community event bringing together training, employment, and support services across the Wheatbelt.

The expo was a great reminder of what National Careers Week is really about: exploring possibilities, building confidence, and recognising that learning is something we can pursue at any stage of life.

Alongside Read Write Now, a great range of organisations were on hand — including the Jobs and Skills Centre (Central Regional TAFE), Workforce Australia, Skill Hire, Carer Gateway Service, and Wheatbelt Health Services — all sharing information on training, employment, and community support pathways.

The connections didn’t stop when the expo did. Since the event, Read Write Now has been building closer ties with the local library and Central Regional TAFE to make it easier for people to find and access the right support.

Read Write Now is here for adults across regional communities who want to strengthen their reading, writing, digital, or communication skills — whatever that looks like for you. When people feel more confident in these areas, it opens doors: to further learning, to work, and to a fuller role in community life.
