Our Central Office team has been busy hitting the road across the South West, meeting adult learners, volunteers, and community partners to strengthen adult learning where it’s needed most.
In Bunbury, we hosted the South West Tutor Catch-Up Workshop, bringing together South Regional TAFE lecturers and volunteer tutors to share experiences, explore best practices, and collaborate on supporting learners. We also joined the Bunbury Embrace Employment, Skills & Participation Event, connecting with the local community and highlighting pathways for learning, training, and employment.
At the Peel Jobs and Skills Careers, Training and Employment Expo in Mandurah, we met many younger school leavers just finishing Year 12. There was strong interest from students keen to access support after school, especially as the transition to TAFE can feel daunting and overwhelming. Working closely with the Jobs & Skills Centre and South Metropolitan TAFE (SMTAFE), we highlighted how Read Write Now can provide tutoring and guidance to help them build confidence and succeed in their studies.
Our Coordinator, Lyn Mitchell, also represented Read Write Now at the Collie Embrace Expo, raising awareness about our tutoring services. Local groups showed great interest in how we can support adult learners in areas where access to services is limited.
These events aren’t just about promoting Read Write Now—they’re about building relationships, understanding local needs, and ensuring adult learners in every corner of WA know that support is available.
